Catalyst stuff featured on Josh Spear!

Wow, we're ecstatic. Yesterday we found out that Bent Air, a tshirt company for scuba divers (and whoever else), was featured on joshspear.com. We created everything for Bent Air, including logo, tape, shirts designs, site, promotional materials, etc. Awesome. Check out the site and more below. bent air site joshspear.com tags: , , , , , , , ,

Fresh new look for vintage retailer

Recently (very recently) we partnered with a company offering vintage product for both apparel and home décor. We created two mod-inspired patterns and color palettes for the two sides of Sheila's retail inventory. We also helped name the company. Vintage Wears (apparel and accessories) and Vintage Wares (home décor). The system includes two-sided cards (for the two names), branding stickers for shopping bags, hangtags and price tag labels. We'll post a link to her site once it's up. tags: , , , , , , , , ,

Channel Red (TVs in Target) gets some Catalyst

In order to promote Victory Park and the amazing digital art project going on there, Catalyst worked with Target on a 30 second spot for Channel Red which plays on the TVs in Target's electronics department. This particular spot plays in and around Dallas stores. Enjoy the Channel Red spot in action. And from this link, you can check out the other Victory Park stuff we worked on. tags: , , , , , , , , ,

Catalyst + Bent Air = Tshirts (finally)

The shirts we designed for Bent Air are finally printed. Well, most of them. Here's a sneak peek, fresh from the sample box. We're now gonna hire some models (probably Carl for both men and womens') and get these up on the bent air site. See the "seems like it has been eternal" coming soon site. tags: , , , , , , ,

Catalyst work featured in film festivals

This is an ad featured in LA, Dallas and Tribeca (to name a few) film festival programs. This is part of a bigger effort Catalyst has been partnering with Target on...that effort referred to as Art for All! Here's the copy from the spread: Fostering the creative spirit. Mr. Jago's boundary-breaking illustrations took shape on childhood sketchpads in Suffolk, England. Today, three dimensions can barely contain them. Target is proud to give this artist a new canvas to fill adn new audiences to dazzle. it's one of the many ways we're helping make inspiring art and design open to everyone. Congratulations to all the winners of the AFI Dallas International Film Festival. By sharing your vision, you inspire countless others to discover their own. You can see the artwork/video of Mr. Jago in Victory Park...or click here and watch the video. tags: , , , , , , , ,

Catalyst hires new guy named Joe Kral

Hello, Nice meeting everyone this morning. I look forward to working on some cool projects. Here’s a little info about me- Born and raised in Faribault, MN (50 miles south). Yes, I had a nice mullet back in the day. Maybe I’ll bring in a photo for the wall of shame by my desk. I moved to Minneapolis in 1992 to go to college. Worked at Duffy and Design Guys for awhile. Also started Test Pilot Collective, a digital type foundry. Moved to San Francisco in 2000 for the dot com wave. That only lasted 5 months and then they went under. Took 6 months off to explore California and relax. Landed a job at Ideo down in Palo Alto, CA. Worked there for a couple years and worked on some cool projects. I then packed up to go to Pittsburgh, PA for a new job at American Eagle Outfitters. Pittsburgh was ok but, I decided to move back to the west coast and ended up in Venice, CA. I lived 2 blocks from the beach and enjoyed every minute of it. The weather was nice but, L.A. sucks (traffic, people, cost of living). So, now I’m back in MN. The great Midwest! I’m glad to be back home. I have a few websites that I update now and then. Not so much lately. personal portfolio: joekral.org type foundry: testpilotcollective.com art show: state-press.com Check em’ out. Let me know what you think. Thanks, Joe tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

in the groove gets a new look

We worked with In the Groove to design their new identity and business card. There's a foil going on here. What's a foil you ask? Here's a hint...it's shiny and looks like gold. In this case, the gold is shiny green. tags: , , , , , , ,

Free Salt and Pepper

Catalyst appears to be stocked up for life on salt & pepper. So stop by for lunch some day and get as many free shakes as you want. But be careful, too much salt can cause lots of problems. Excess pepper appears to be ok...unless you don't like pepper. Then it's bad. If you're wondering why we have so much salt and pepper, you're asking the wrong guy. Ask Betsy. tags: , , , , , , , , ,

Two Directors. Three Cakes.

Shannon Pettini (creative) and Jared Lukes (interactive) are two very special people (today). Why you ask? Because they're now older. But don't they both look great? Happy Birthday to you both. Our office birthday bash consisted of several cakes (once again a DQ cake, see Ellen's b-day post for the intro to dairy queen at Catalyst), all of which were deliciously flavored. To see more of our fun-filled cake indulgence, go to our heavily traffic'd flickr site...aptly named catalyststudios: See our flickr site. tags: , , , , , , , ,

Catalyst wall is famous.

Hi. My name is Jason, and this is my wall on Fabulously Green's blog. I have 100s of business cards from people I've met over the years, but I don't use a rolodex (I'm a PDA guy). I also had white walls with nothing on them. I decided one day to hang the cards on my wall. This is a pic of about 1/5 of them, but apparently, someone else thought they were fabulous also. Thanks for the post Fabulously Green! Here's a bit about you: Fabulous style finds in Fashion and Interior Design that look good, feel good, do good. A go-to source of sleek, eco-modern design for style-enthusiasts everywhere. If you want your card on my wall -- mail it to me. I'll take a pic and show you where it lands. See my wall on a website (and check out fabulously green). tags: , , , , , , ,

Iconosphere 2007 gets a Catalyst touch.

We worked with Iconoculture to create a logo and materials for Iconsophere 2007. This was Icono's first ever client only mega-event. Betsy and I went, and it was totally cool. In fact, the keynote speaker was Mark Burnett, you know, the guy who created Survivor, etc. But enough about Mark and more about Iconosphere. Ummm... Oh, we're also creating all the materials for 2008's Iconosphere, which I can say have turned out SUPER cool. Below are the 2 versions of the logo for Iconosphere. See the Iconosphere Invitation Here's a link to the old "register here" site. tags: , , , , , , ,

Wii are soooo cool!

It took us a bit to catch up with the craze (and a bit more to actually find one) but Catalyst Studios finally purchased a Nintendo Wii. Stay tuned for some excellent video of me whipping everyones' butt in bowling...just like on the real lanes. Is that a challenge? It might be. tags: , , , , , , , , ,

Iconoculture gets a pretty cool video

Iconoculture asked Catalyst Studios to develop a short video, a teaser of sorts. I think we found just the right stock footage and soundtrack to bring their message to life. What do you think? As Iconoculture puts it, "Your consumer is on the run, and your market is sure to follow. Where are they going? Why are they going there?" The video was first played at Iconosphere, which is Iconocultures annual event for clients. It now lives on their website. Oh, and I should mention that after playing this video to kick off the conference, there was lots of hooting and applause (and it wasn't just me), which I gathered as SUCCESS! Iconoculture is the leading consumer expert, helping marketing decision makers in corporations and agencies enable growth and innovation. See the iconoculture video. tags: , , , , , , , , ,
